What Hatteras Island does to a window
Hatteras Island is the most exposed glass on the East Coast. The island is rarely more than a mile wide, the Atlantic is on one side and Pamlico Sound is on the other, and the oceanfront homes in Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon take spray straight off the water on every east wind and dry a white film within days of a cleaning. A nor'easter or a fall storm pushes salt and sand across the entire island, and the ocean overwash at Rodanthe and the S-curves leaves a salt crust on the lower glass that rain does not rinse off.
The sound side is the kitesurfing capital of the coast because the wind never stops, and that wind carries sound spray and sand onto the sound-front glass at Avon, Kinnakeet Shores, Frisco and Hatteras village every afternoon. The maritime forest at Buxton Woods and Frisco drops pollen each spring and keeps the glass under the trees damp enough for mildew, blowing sand frosts the lower panes on windy weeks, and the fishing fleet at Hatteras harbor keeps an exhaust film on anything facing the water. Rentals turn over every Saturday, and the homes that sit closed in winter are where salt film does the most damage.
Most Hatteras Island homes do best on an every-two-months plan, and oceanfront homes often want monthly in the windy months. Homes under the trees in Buxton Woods and Frisco sometimes stretch to quarterly in summer. Rental owners usually have us on a set day between guests, with the inside glass done once a year. We run the island on set village days to make the long drive down Highway 12 count.

Can you remove hard water spots from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Mineral spots from sprinkler overspray need a dedicated treatment rather than regular cleaning. Tell us about them on the quote form and we will look at them on the first visit.
